Location: Al Hol, Hassakah governorate
Contract duration: 3 months
BACKGROUND
UNHCR registration of asylum seekers from Iraq in Al Hol camp is scheduled for December 2018 -January 2019. Asylum seekers will undergo individual registration using UNHCR proGres electronic database and biometric enrolment with IrisGuard. The core of UNHCR registration staff will be assisted by a temporary workforce engaged for the duration of the exercise.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the UNHCR Registration staff the Registration assistant will be expected to:

Conduct registration interviews in accordance with local SOPs and registration standards;

Respond to queries from, asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures and their rights and entitlements;

Ensure quality capture of registration information in UNHCR electronic proGres registration database in accordance with standard operation procedures;

Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required;

Collaborate with protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming including provision of identity and entitlement documentation;

Ensure confidentiality of asylum seekers information and adherence to UNHCR Data Protection Policies and Code of Conduct;

Act as interpreter and translator when needed;

Perform other duties whenever required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
EDUCATION

University degree in a field related to the scope of work.
WORK EXPERIENCE

At least two years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in registration, data collection and/or related fields.

Experience working in a humanitarian context is an asset (UN or NGO programmes/projects)
LANGUAGES

Fluency in Arabic, advanced knowledge of written and oral English.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Capacity to work in an emergency context under stressful conditions and strict deadlines;

Interviewing skills, respect for diversity and ability to handle communication with individuals under stress and in a difficult emotional state;

Very good computer skills, including experience with various software applications.
